Junya Oikawa (b.1983 Sendai, Japan) works internationally, and now lives in Karlsruhe as a guest artist at ZKM.
In pursue for the possibility of digital sound art expression, He reaches out to multiple sound and music fields including installation.
His works are introduced in various exhibitions, festivals and organizations of contemporary art, experimental music and digital art, such as Transformation (2010, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), ARD Hoerspieltage (2017, ZKM | Cube, Germany), Bains Numeriques (2014/2016, CDA, France), Noite Branca Braga 2018 (2018, Garden of Archeology Museum, Portugal), Resonanzen (2017/18, ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, Germany), SONAR - Mirai Moriyama + Jon Filip Fahlstrom + Junya Oikawa (2018, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No.1, Japan), GEMISCHTES DOPPEL - Norbert Moeslang + Junya Oikawa (2016, Schwankhalle, Germany), and he was invited for the lecture at the Maison de la culture du Japon a Paris (2016, France), and also he collaborates with companies. He received several awards such as the 1st prize "Qwartz Music Awards 9" Category:Experimentation (2012, France), Won the 1st Prize of the "EDIGMA SEMIBREVE Award" (2016, Portugal), Won the "Critic prize" Bains Numériques Festival (France,2014). Oikawa’s new sound installation is currently exhibited at The Design Museum | Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, for “REFLEX BAUHAUS. 40 OBJECTS – 5 CONVERSATIONS” from 8th February 2019 until 2nd February 2020.
