Junya Oikawa (b.1983 Sendai, Japan) works internationally, and now lives in Karlsruhe as a guest artist at ZKM.
In pursue for the possibility of digital sound art expression, He reaches out to multiple sound and music fields including installation.
His works have been introduced in the most upcoming international exhibitions and concerts such as the Transformation (2010, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), Bains Numériques #8 (2014, Journalist Prize, France), Semibreve Festival (2016, Edigma-Semibreve Prize, Portugal), Festival ARD Hörspieltage (2017, ZKM, Germany), Resonanzen (2017, ZKM, Germany), KERNMACHEREI6 - Junya Oikawa (2016,Theater am Ring, Germany), Bains Numériques #9 (2016, France), AKOUSMA 12 (2015, Canada), Live TV-DOMMUNE (2014,11th March, Tokyo), FUTURA (2014, France), REM Festival (2015, Germany), GEMISCHTES DOPPEL - Norbert Möslang + Junya Oikawa (2016, Germany), and he was invited for the lecture at the Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris (2016, France).
He received several commissions from up front projects such as "European Church Music Festival" (2012, Germany), "six memos for the next..." (2013, Magazin4, Austria), the 50th years of the Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre (2014, Canada), 3-D-Konzert mit Junya Oikawa (2015, Fohhn - IOSONO 3D SoundLab, Germany) and Voice Landscape - ta ka ta ka Crickets (2015, Honen-in Temple Kyoto, Japan).
In 2013, he won the Grand Prize of Qwartz Music Awards (France), for the category of experimental/research, one of the most honorable award of electronic music for which famous artists such as Björk and Pierre Henry were also listed as the previous winners for the a Qwartz d'Honneur.
